After months of hard work across, we’re proud to share a milestone that’s been a long time coming: Abstract has earned it’s SOC2 certification. This is a big one for us, and we wanted to take a moment to actually celebrate it and provide some additional color.
Security has always been part of how we build at Abstract, not something we patch in after the fact. Earning SOC 2 compliance is independent, third-party confirmation of that commitment. It means an outside auditor took a hard look at how we run our infrastructure, manage our policies, and handle customer data, and confirmed it meets a rigorous, recognized standard.
What SOC 2 Actually Means
If you’re not steeped in security compliance, here’s the plain-English version. SOC 2 has become one of the most respected security and trust standards a technology company can be evaluated against, especially for companies whose products handle customer data as part of daily operations. It looks at things like how tightly a company controls who can access sensitive systems, how well it can detect and respond to a security incident, how consistently it backs up and protects data, and whether its stated policies actually match its real-world practices.
The audit is conducted by an independent third party, not self-reported. The auditor spends real time examining evidence, including logs, records, documented procedures, and actual system behavior, then determines whether that evidence supports the standard being claimed.
Passing that audit means the systems behind InstaLOD, InstaMAT, Polyverse, and RSX Engine, every product we build, are backed by verified security
practices, not just good intentions.
What It Took to Get Here
This wasn’t a quick fix or a paperwork exercise. Getting here meant months of real, sustained work across our infrastructure, our processes, and our team, including:
- Every point of access to the systems that power our products, reviewed and locked down
- Every path our data travels, documented and verified against a rigorous standard
- A complete library of policy documentation rebuilt from the ground up, covering everything from incident response to vendor risk management
- Continuous logging and monitoring reinforced across our infrastructure, so issues get caught and addressed before they become problems
Along the way, we didn’t just build controls to satisfy an auditor. We built a better understanding, across the whole team, of what it actually takes to earn and keep customer trust. That’s the part we’re most proud of: This audit didn’t just produce a report, it further polished how we operate.
Why This Matters
For any company evaluating a vendor to build critical workflows on top of, security maturity isn’t optional anymore. It’s expected, and increasingly it’s a prerequisite before a deal even gets discussed. Enterprise buyers in particular require proof, not promises, before they’ll sign on, and procurement teams are trained to ask hard questions about exactly the things SOC 2 verifies.
For our customers and partners, this compliance changes the nature of that conversation entirely. Instead of taking our word for it, you now have an independently verified answer, backed by an outside authority, to the question every serious buyer eventually asks: how do you actually protect our data?
